Frequently Asked Questions
Real answers about mobile mechanic service in Fallbrook and North County San Diego. No fluff.
What exactly is a mobile mechanic?
A mobile mechanic comes to wherever your car is — your driveway, your office parking lot, wherever. You don’t tow it anywhere, you don’t sit in a waiting room, and you don’t rearrange your whole day. I show up, do the work, and you’re back on the road. That’s it.
Is a mobile mechanic more expensive than a regular shop?
Usually not — and often less. Shops have massive overhead: rent, utilities, a front desk, multiple employees. I don’t have any of that. My rates are competitive, and when you factor in that you’re not paying for a tow truck or losing half a day driving around, most people come out ahead.
What areas do you serve?
I’m based in Fallbrook and serve all of North County San Diego and South County Riverside — including Temecula, Escondido, San Marcos, Vista, Oceanside, Lake Elsinore, Menifee, Perris, and Pauma Valley. If you’re not sure whether I come to your area, just call or text and I’ll let you know.
What kinds of repairs can you do on-site?
Most of what a shop can do, I can do in your driveway. Brakes, oil changes, battery replacement, alternator and starter, belts and hoses, AC diagnostics and repair, check engine light diagnosis, suspension work, transmission service, tune-ups, and pre-purchase inspections. If a job genuinely needs a lift or specialized shop equipment, I’ll tell you upfront.
What if you need a part you don’t have with you?
I carry common parts and stock my truck based on what jobs I have scheduled. If I need something specific, I can usually get it same day from a local supplier and come back to finish the job. I’ll always be upfront about timing so you’re not left waiting and wondering.
How do I schedule an appointment?
Call or text me at (760) 468-2854. Tell me what’s going on with your car, where you’re located, and when works for you. I’ll give you an honest estimate and we’ll set a time. Same-day appointments are often available.
Do you work on all makes and models?
Yes — domestic and foreign, cars and trucks. I’ve been doing this since 2007 so I’ve worked on just about everything. If you have a specific make or model you’re concerned about, just ask when you call.
Do you offer fleet maintenance for businesses?
Yes, and it’s one of my favorite types of work. I service fleets for landscaping companies, HVAC contractors, plumbers, delivery services, and other local businesses. I come to your location, service multiple vehicles in one visit, and keep records for each one. It’s a lot more efficient than sending drivers to a shop one at a time.
What payment methods do you accept?
Cash, check, Venmo, Zelle, and major credit cards. I’ll always give you a clear price before I start the work so there are no surprises when it’s time to pay.
Do you warranty your work?
Yes. I stand behind everything I do. If something isn’t right after I’ve worked on your car, call me and I’ll come back and make it right. I’ve built my business on repeat customers and word of mouth — I’m not going to cut corners or disappear after the job is done.
My car won’t start. Can you still help?
That’s exactly when a mobile mechanic makes the most sense. If your car won’t start, you’re stuck — and calling a tow truck just to get to a shop is expensive and inconvenient. I come to you, diagnose the problem on the spot, and fix it right there if I can. Most no-start issues — dead battery, bad alternator, starter failure — are completely fixable in your driveway.
How long have you been doing this?
Since 2007. I grew up in North County San Diego, started working on cars as a teenager, and turned it into a full-time business. I’m not a franchise or a call center — when you call FBK, you get me, Steve Cox, every time.
Still Have a Question?
